The Made in Bury Business Awards (MIBBA’s) were created to champion local Bury Businesses whilst celebrating the achievements of the diverse business community. Bury Council are headline sponsors of the MIBBA’s and are involved in revealing the annual Outstanding Achievement Award.

Councillor Rishi Shori was a guest speaker at the Made in Bury Business Awards in 2016. Councillor Shori was appointed leader of Bury Council in May 2016, becoming the first council leader in Greater Manchester to come from a BME background, as well as being the youngest leader in Bury Council’s history.

On Councillor Shori’s blog which you can read here, he had this to say; “It was a pleasure to be a guest speaker at the Made in Bury Business Awards. This glittering occasion is now a regular fixture in the calendar, rightly celebrating the many achievements of our local companies and the huge contribution that they make to our economy and employment. My congratulations go to every one of them”.

The newest initiative which you will see later on this year is Bury Pride bringing the LGBT and Bury community together! Bury Pride will be held on Saturday 8th April 2017 and will be free to all members of the community. There will be a huge carnival-themed parade which runs through Bury town centre which will be gorgeously bright, glittery and colourful to mark the occasion. The parade will be led by Bury’s Mayor, Cllr Mike Connolly and after the parade has finished there will be a huge extravagant party at The Elizabethan Suite with performances from local bands, speeches from some of Bury’s VIPs along with a prosecco bar! Who doesn’t love prosecco?

Bury Pride will be a family friendly affair and will showcase the coming together of the Bury community, breaking down barriers for the LBGT community. This will be a fantastic day in our local history! Anyone can come along and whether you’re taking part in the parade, coming along to the party at the Elizabethan Suite, or just watching from the audience, you will be lifted by Bury pride.
