Bury Council are once again headline sponsor of the Made in Bury Business Awards this year and will once again present the Outstanding Achievement Award, which was won last year by Pennine.
Leader of Bury Council, Councillor Rishi Shori, who was appointed leader of Bury Council in May 2016, will be judging the MIBBA’s again this year. His continued support of the Made in Bury Business Awards is testament to one of his top five priorities, which is to make Bury the business and entrepreneurial capital of the North West.
Councillor Rishi Shori talked about last year’s awards in his blog recently, he said, “One of our most important priorities is the health of the local economy. Judging by the turnout at the Made in Bury Business Awards, it would see that it is in rude health indeed. It was a pleasure to present the Outstanding Achievement award to Andrew Roberts of Pennine.”
He has also announced a new apprenticeship programme to help give the young people in Bury an alternative opportunity to give themselves the best possible start in their careers. He said, “We know that one size does not fit all when it comes to education and I’m particularly excited about a new pre-apprenticeship programme for 12 to 14-year olds we’ve committed to underwrite, which is putting youngsters in touch with local businesses and giving them early experience of the workplace; bringing to life what they are learning in the classroom.”
This is just one of the many new initiatives created by Bury Council to encourage the development of the Bury area in the years to come.
We thank them for their continued support and look forward to them presenting the Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s Made in Bury Business Awards.
