Made In Bury recently held their first annual Premier Lifestyle Fair at The Castle Armoury Drill Hall, where members of the public were invited to come along, get involved with a huge range of activities, and meet some of the North West’s favourite lifestyle businesses.

Schools had been sent letters in advance to make students and parents aware of a Bury-wide baking competition, where students were invited to bring in a homemade cake (or cupcake), to be judged by the mayor, with prizes donated by Slattery’s!

The cakes brought in were truly fantastic, and the talent of those entering was brilliant! The categories were split between Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 and were judged on taste and presentation by the Deputy Mayoress of Bury, Councillor Stella Smith.

The winner for Key Stage 1 was Anastasia Jankowska, aged 7, who baked a stunning coffee and walnut cake.

The winner for Key Stage 2 was Emma Foster, aged 11, who baked three stunning cupcakes in the style of Sesame Street, featuring Elmo, Cookie Monster and Bert.

And finally, the winner for Key Stage 3 (and also our OVERALL winner!) was Daniel Wallwork, aged 12, who baked a delicious and classically decorated Victoria Sponge! Daniel goes to Bury Church High School, and he received a trophy for his school to proudly display in their cabinet!

All of the winners also received some tasty chocolate gifts from Slattery’s Cake Shop and Patisserie for them to enjoy after their hard work.
