2013 was an exciting year for Amanda at Natural Balance Pilates, who now runs a number of classes from her studio in Ramsbottom.

Although the business is relatively new, Amanda has already built a loyal client base and is teaching classes throughout the week. It's clear that Amanda has tapped into a real niche in the market and as a result, the business is really taking off!

In recognition of their success as a new business in the area, Natural Balance Pilates was Commended in the Start-Up Business category of the Made in Bury Business Awards. Amanda was delighted with the result and accepted her award at a sparkling ceremony in November last year.

Amanda's business is all about helping people to look and feel their best, which is why she has worked so hard to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in the studio. She first came across Pilates whilst training as a professional dancer at the Hammond and the Royal Ballet Summer School. Amanda quickly came to regard Pilates as a way to improve her performance, as it made her body feel stronger, more supple and perfectly aligned.

When she finished dancing, Amanda decided to retrain and utilise her background in anatomy and movement to become a Pilates instructor. Amanda trained with the Pilates Foundation under the watchful eye of Master Trainer Rachel Rafiefer. The Pilates Foundation was Amanda's first choice as their programme is the most intensive and thorough training available in the UK. It's also the only Pilates body in the UK to be officially recognised by the NHS for its high standards of training.

Amanda is joined at the studio by yoga therapist Olivia Rigby, who trained at the Yoga Biomedical Trust in London and has been a British Wheel of Yoga Teacher since 2004. Another important member of the Natural Balance Pilates team is Janine Hurley, who specialises in pre-postnatal yoga and family yoga.
