Congratulations to the lucky winner of the £2,000 draw, Leah Bates from JD Sports!

JD Sports may be internationally recognised now for always having the latest sports fashion, although their huge success started right here in Bury in a small shop, back in 1981! This single Bury store grew to having a store opening in the Arndale Centre in Manchester in 1983, to now having 2,400 stores worldwide.

Unfortunately, we were unable to do a video this week as Leah was on annual leave, so we resorted to plan B and we decided to head over to the JD warehouse in Rochdale and present Leah with the cheque and congratulate her on winning £2,000!

Leah is a Profit Protection Administrator at the JD Sports warehouse and has been for the past two and a half years. Her job involves import invoicing and speaking and dealing with other JD stores.

Although we weren't able to surprise Leah, we managed to get a few people from her team all together for a picture holding the cheque and Leah was over the moon with her winnings, saying that had been seeing all our other winner's videos and wishing it could be her! Looks like luck was on your side, Leah - well done!

When asked what she would be spending her money on, Leah said firstly that she wanted to treat herself to some new perfume or a new handbag, and that she also had her son's 4th birthday coming up so she would be planning a surprise for him!

The Made in Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw is a not for profit initiative that raises money to pay for the training and mentoring of start-up businesses in Bury. If you would like to enter, tickets are just £2 a week. There are only 2,400 tickets available - so make sure you enter soon if you would like to be in with a chance!
