In February, Davenports Business Support Centre became the 41st winners of the Made in Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw.
Davenports Business Support Centre, who recently opened their doors on Badger Street, Bury offer a wide range of services including printing, graphic design, web design and accounting. Owner, Jason Davenport, also launched Davenports Food Bank to offer support to those in the local area that need it most.
When we ask our winners how they plan on spending the £2,000, the most common answer is probably a holiday. Or when our winners have entered as a business, like Davenports did, the response is often a staff night out. However, Jason Davenport, owner of Davenports Business Support Centre, had a much more heart-warming response to this question.
Charity and helping others are a large part of Jason’s mission. He decided he would divide his winnings three ways. He wanted to split £1,000 between his staff, then donate £500 to Bury Hospice and £500 to the Bury Homeless Project - two charities which are very close to his heart.
Last week we accompanied Jason as he visited Bury Hospice to make his amazing £500 donation. The Made in Bury £2,000 Draw is all about helping businesses, and we are lucky enough to be able to put a smile on someone’s face every Wednesday, so it is wonderful to see our winners passing on their good fortune!
There are lots of local charities in Bury that do amazing work and we hope that this may inspire more people to donate what they can to these great causes.
Davenports Food Bank encourage donations of toiletries, household items, feminine hygiene products and baby supplies as well as long-lasting food items.
