Susan Pattison Chartered Neurological Physiotherapists was Commended in the Health & Beauty category at The Made in Bury Business Awards last year. This was a fantastic achievement for an excellent local business that has steadily grown since it was first set up in 1998.

What's different about Susan Pattison is that they are not a traditional physiotherapy practice in the sense of treating bad backs and dodgy elbows - instead the clinic specialises in treating people who suffer from neurological conditions and minimising the effects of long-term disability.

The Bolton Neuro Voices Hydrotherapy pilot project was a unique and dynamic collaboration between a local business and a local charity. The aim of the project is to meet the needs of local people living with a neurological condition such as brain injuries, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.

Hydrotherapy is a highly effective therapy because it promotes comfort and pain relief. It's often used when conventional exercise is neither suitable nor enjoyable. Other benefits of hydrotherapy include improved mobility, strength, balance, co-ordination, physical fitness and self-confidence.

The success of the pilot project has allowed Susan Pattison to apply for more funding - watch the news page http://www.neurologicalphysio.co.uk/news/ or follow the practice on Twitter (@sp_neurophysio) to see if they are successful!
