Bury company launches employee volunteering scheme

Car Benefit Solutions, a financial services company based at The Barracks in Bury, has teamed up with local charities as part of their new employee volunteering initiative.

The My Make a Difference Day programme allows CBS’ people to take part in a wide-range of volunteering activities with local partner charities. Employees can choose to take one calendar day a year away from the business to complete their chosen activity, or split it over two half-days.

The aim of the initiative is to provide participants with the opportunity to work in partnership with the local community to gain an educational experience, which they will be able to reflect upon.

CBS welcomed five local charities to its Head Offices at The Barracks, in Bury, to launch the scheme in April, with staff enthusiastically engaging with the opportunities available over the last five months.

Head of People, Culture and Values Nicky Dickinson said;“CBS is committed to working in partnership with all of the charities now and in the future, not solely through volunteering, but through fundraising and practical support. Every person at CBS now has the opportunity to give something back to our local community.”

Janet Katana, Manager at Bury Cancer Support Centre said;“The continued support and contribution that CBS employees and management staff make to our centre is invaluable and we would like to thank all of the volunteers who worked so hard on the garden project.... they were fantastic and really accelerated the project for us.”

What our employees think;

 “I’d urge anyone who hasn’t given up a day of their time yet in this initiative to do so. It’s well worth while.” - Mike

“The young people I helped, whilst volunteering at Bolton Lads and Girls Club, were really engaging and seemed to enjoy the day as much as I did. It was amazing to see their confidence grow throughout the day and I was so proud to have mentored their winning presentation.” - Craig

“The experience was rewarding and fulfilling, working with a great team of young people to deliver something that exceeded their expectations and provided a great sense of achievement. The work the team do at Bolton Lads & Girls Club obviously has a huge impact on the lives of young people in the community” - John
