It’s 2017 and The Made in Bury Business Awards are back to showcase the best businesses in the Bury borough. Now in our fifth year of the awards, I know we cannot believe it either… We’re here and ready to host the best business awards of 2017.

So, what’s next for the winners of the 2016 Made in Bury Business Awards I hear you ask? Many will rejoice in the excitement of last year’s awards, receiving recognition and business through the connections they made at last year’s awards. Others will already be working on their application form to ensure they keep their title of best business in their chosen category!

This year the Made in Bury team have decided to switch things up, keeping the MIBBA’s as unique and the application process as relevant as ever. You may notice a change in the questions this year or possibly the categories, who knows? You’ll just have to wait to find out!

However, in the meantime we’re keeping you in the loop by sharing the MIBBA calendar 2017 with you. Kicking off on Tuesday the 2nd May entries will open giving the Bury business community the opportunity to enter the awards and show off your potential. You have until Sunday the 9th July to enter the awards and after that its astalavista baby?! You will find out on Monday the 25th September whether you have made the shortlist and if you have, you will be invited to attend the meet and greet on Friday the 13th October but don’t worry, it’s only unlucky for some. Tuesday the 17th October will either be known for creating tears of joy. Finalists then have until Thursday the 23rd November to find the perfect black tie or ball gown. Who will become a winner of the Made in Bury Business Award 2017? You can determine by entering.

No matter the size of your business you can enter the MIBBAs. However it’s not just the winning that improves business!

Why not take advantage of the free marketing on offer? Just being shortlisted for a MIBBA can improve brand awareness and promote your business to new customers. The meet and greet is a great opportunity to network and can help make you known to your consumer base. You can maximise PR exposure by updating your marketing materials with the awards logo.

By pitching yourself as the best you can attract the talent you need to push your business forward. Awards celebrate hard work, success and Increase employee morale which will also help attract and retain new recruits. Employees focus on what’s great about the place they work and by inviting them to a glitzy awards ceremony they will feel appreciated and proud to be part of your team.

The MIBBAs help you develop and look at your business in a way you usually wouldn’t! They help you look at your company from an outsider’s perspective so that you take off your rose tinted glasses and are able to see what is working and what isn’t.

Entry to the Made in Bury Business Awards is absolutely free and couldn’t be made any easier, we know we’ve tried! Fill out an application form in your chosen category and we’ll do the rest. This is an opportunity to really let your passion for your business shine through, and highlight any activities which don’t get the recognition they deserve!

Your entries once collected are sent off to a panel of eminent and impartial adjudicators. The Made in Bury Team have no say on who makes the shortlist, the final three or who wins. We do however get to decide on the entertainment and the delicious three course meal we have at the awards.


The highest-scoring businesses will make it to the shortlist, and will be invited to the present their business at meet and greet in front of the judges. The meet and greet is an opportunity to present your business to the judging panel in person, where you have your chance to showcase your enthusiasm and talent.
