JCS Nuclear Solutions is a multi-award-winning SME based in Bury, with a second office in London. Established in 1975, we have been at the forefront of nuclear radiation sensing and shielding technologies, supplying our equipment to nuclear, defence, medical, research and industrial organisations.

Our products and projects are contributing to the UK Net Zero Strategy in supporting existing nuclear energy generation facilities; our technology is underpinning, and future-proofing, complex nuclear decommissioning challenges; we are at the forefront of radiation sensor and shielding technologies which are shaping the development of Small Modular Reactors and Nuclear Fusion projects; our technology is used every day to ensure best working practises and dose-reduction for medical professionals handling radionuclides used to diagnose and treat cancer; we support the UK ministry of defence in a variety of activities; and enjoy important collaborative relationships with nuclear research projects at government laboratories and universities.

We located our HQ to Bury in 2005 and moved into the Business Lodge, Bury in 2016, thanks to our connections with the team at Made in Bury.

JCS has been involved with the Made in Bury Business Awards, first as a winner (Technology) and since our Managing Director Oliver Caunt has returned, year-on-year, on the judging panel. Every year, we are astonished by the enormous wealth of talent and entrepreneurship that we meet at these awards.

As a small team, we operate a dynamic business with a wide network of experts and businesses who contribute to our mission. We are proud to have a strong working relationship with Horsfield & Smith Accountants, who provide an integrated finance department for JCS, Connect Comms for all our communications requirements, and Woodcocks Howarth & Nuttall should we need any legal advice. We also work with local software engineers, electronics experts, printers, project managers, packaging suppliers and even a bespoke instrument protection case manufacturer. We are proud to keep as much of our supply chain as local to Bury as we can.

We are delighted to be be supporting the Made in Bury Business Academy, and looking forward  to helping this year’s cohort thrive and succeed!
