On Tuesday 14th June, Made in Bury are inviting individuals who are thinking about starting a new business or have started a new Bury based business after September 2020 to a discovery meeting to find out more information about The Made in Bury Business Academy.

The discovery meeting will be held at, Europa House, BusinessLodge, Barcroft Street, Bury, BL9 5BT at 6-7pm.

Academy sponsors, BusinessLodge have been the home of the Academy meetings since The Made in Bury Business Academy was established in 2016, now in their 7th year the Academy has helped 125 businesses to date.

The Academy provides businesses in the borough of Bury with invaluable coaching, mentoring and a support network through a funded structured training programme consisting of 18 modules delivered over the academic year by successful business owners and industry experts.

Each year the Discovery meeting is attended by a large range of Bury based businesses from all sectors, including accountants, web designers, photographers, architects, cleaners, estate agents, trades people and dog groomers to name just a few, every business sector is invited to come along.

The discovery meeting will give businesses an in-depth overview of what is covered in the Academy and there will be an opportunity to speak to current and past Academy members during a Q&A session at the end of the meeting. Businesses that are interested in one of the 20 places on the course can take away an application form for the 2023 course starting in September.

New for this year is the addition of the Made in Bury Academy Patrons, 11 Bury business owners who are aligned with Made in Bury’s vision of helping tomorrows businesses today. These business owners will be mentors to the next cohort of Academy members and also sit on a loan panel, offering interest free loans to qualifying businesses.

Debi and Phil Fellone from Made in Bury Ltd explain why they decided to set up the Business Academy.

“Every year, thousands of new businesses are formed here in the UK and national statistics tell us that 6 out of 10 of those businesses fail in their early years. The Business Academy was created to help new business owners here in Bury, learn and grow, broadening their skills to help future-proof their businesses”.

The Made in Bury Business Academy is funded by the Made in Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw, a not-for-profit initiative licensed by Bury Council. All profits go towards helping businesses within the Bury borough.
